Carlos Alderete, 4 Injured in Truck Accident in San Antonio, TX

San Antonio, TX -- February 8, 2023, Carlos Alderete and four others were hurt following an accident involving a semi-truck.

Investigators said that the incident happened at around 2:48 p.m. along Loop 410 near Houston Street.

It appears that 26-year-old Carlos Alderete and four others were in a vehicle traveling southbound on Loop 410. That vehicle and an 18-wheeler to its left somehow sideswiped each other. Authorities said they weren't able to determine who was at fault.

Alderete and his passengers were all injured, one seriously. Additional factors surrounding the crash remain unclear at this time.

I can only hope authorities have been able to sort things out, considering their preliminary public information would hardly get victims and families the answers they need after a crash. It may surprise people, though, to see how often police leave things just as they are in these reports.

Not long ago, for example, I handled a truck wreck where the victim and the truck driver both accused the other of running a red light. The investigating officer must have felt there were more important matters to tend to because they left the drivers to sort things out on their own. Not long after we got a call from the victim, though, we were able to track down a nearby security camera that caught the whole thing on video.

Maybe authorities here are more thorough than that officer was, but these early details certainly don't reflect that right now.
