Recent information shows police are still looking for the driver involved in the incident, which happened at Butler Street and McCart Avenue. One thing that really stood out to me was family in the news saying that the driver likely wouldn't have been in trouble had they just stayed and called for help. That's often true, which is why investigators usually find hit-and-run drivers had something to hide. Drugs, alcohol, warrants, stolen vehicles—these are all relatively common, and they could just add to the list of things that person needs to be held accountable for. At the top of that list for me is answering for leaving a man behind on the road to die (which thankfully didn't happen here).

That's why it's important for the rest of us in the DFW community to spread the word when we see accidents like this. Someone is often able to connect the dots and contact authorities with information that will identify the driver. I remain hopeful the same could happen here.
