Carla Villarreal Injured in Car Accident in Palmview, TX

Palmview, TX — September 1, 2022, Carla Villarreal and three others were injured in a crash at the intersection of F.M. 492 and I-2 at 6:30 p.m. in Palmview.

Officials report that a Chevy Equinox failed to obey a red light when it entered the intersection and struck the passenger side of a Buick Encore, driven by Carla Villarreal.

Carla Villarreal reportedly suffered serious injuries while one of her passengers suffered minor injuries. Two other passengers in Carla Villarreal's Encore and the driver of the Chevy Equinox are reported to have possible injuries, but it is unconfirmed.

The driver of the Equinox told crash investigators that the sun shining behind the traffic light made it appear as a green light, so the driver was unaware that it was unsafe to enter the intersection.

There is no further information available at this time.

It's certainly peculiar that the driver of the Buick Encore was seriously injured in a crash where the car was struck on the passenger side. There don't seem to be any reports explaining how this happened. I wonder, what went on here?
