Three Injured in Truck Accident on I-90 in Boone County, IL
Boone County, IL -- February 13, 2023, three people were injured due to an accident where two semi-trucks collided on I-90.
Investigators said that the collision took place near Garden Prairie Road just outside of Belvidere late Monday.
Initial details did not say exactly how the crash occurred. They said that a commercial truck somehow rear-ended another truck hauling a passenger vehicle along I-90.
Due to the crash, two people from the front semi and one person from the rear one were sent to the hospital with injuries described as minor. No further information is available at this time.
Based on the pictures of the crash scene I've looked at in local news outlets, I wouldn't have bet on there only being minor injuries here. If that's true, then that's great news, given the alternative possibilities. That said, I can't help being skeptical reading reports like these given that I've seen a lot of "minor" wrecks turn out to be anything but.
Not long ago, for example, I had someone come to me about a week after a crash between two commercial vehicles. Initially, he had a sore back, but the doctors didn't see anything wrong and sent him home with a prescription for little more than a heating pad and some ibuprofen. Days later, though, he could barely move due to the pain becoming excruciating. Further tests revealed the crash ruptured a disk in his spine, then leaked fluid until it was bone-on-bone.
What was initially seen as a "minor" injury turned out to be a life-changing once that required surgery, intensive rehab, and months of us battling it out with insure to take responsibility. I certainly hope this situation doesn't turn out to be at all similar. While we ultimately got that man the help he needed, I wouldn't wish that struggle on anyone.
