One Killed, One Injured in Truck Accident in Beresford, SD

Beresford, SD — February 14, 2023, one truck driver died and another was injured in a head-on collision on State Highway 46 in Beresford.

Preliminary crash information says a 2007 Kenworth semi-truck was eastbound on Highway 46 when the driver allegedly crossed into an oncoming traffic lane to avoid a pickup truck that slowed ahead to turn into a private driveway. The 2007 Kenworth then crashed head-on with a 2012 Kenworth semi-truck in the westbound lane.

Authorities allege the driver of the 2007 Kenworth was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck's cab, causing him fatal injuries. The driver of the 2012 semi-truck, reportedly wearing a seat belt, was not ejected but suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the turning pickup truck was unhurt.
