Leland Jackson Killed in Truck Accident in Tonkawa, OK

Officials said that 59-year-old Leland Jackson was a pedestrian, but its unclear exactly where Jackson was in relation to the roadway or what he was doing at the time. Somehow, an International truck hit Jackson, resulting in fatal injuries.

Beyond that, there is no clear information available to the public. I can only hope authorities are working to learn more than what these initial reports say, which isn't all that much. People tend to overlook incidents involving pedestrians along interstates, but it's crucial they get as much attention as any fatal accident.

For all we know, the victim was minding his business on the shoulder. It's also possible he was crossing the roadway or perhaps outside a disabled vehicle. Were there witnesses to this? Video footage from the vehicle involved? Is this area notorious for incidents involving pedestrians? I just hate to think there could be a family out there as in the dark about what happened to the victim as much as the rest of us. If nothing else, they at least deserve to know they're getting the whole story.
