Loan Lam, 1 Injured in Car Accident in Houston, TX

Houston, TX -- January 15, 2023, Loan Lam and another person were injured after an accident where multiple vehicles collided.

Initial details said that the crash took place at around 6:35 a.m. along North Houston Rosslyn Road at the intersection of Chippewa Boulevard.

It appears that 59-year-old Loan Lam was outside of her vehicle at the light following a previous collision. While exchanging information with the other driver, it appears a southbound Nissan Sentra failed to control speed and hit the previously crashed vehicles, hitting Lam in the process.

Lam was said to have incapacitating injuries due to the crash while the Nissan driver apparently had non-incapacitating injuries. Police said the Nissan driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time, but this was not confirmed.

Just after 6:00 a.m., alcohol-related accidents aren't exactly common, but they're not impossible, either. They do happen, and it would obviously warrant important consequences. But when alcohol is a factor at this time of the morning, it makes me wonder where that driver got their alcohol. It's pretty unlikely they woke up and downed a couple of drinks before hitting the road. More often than not, it's the result of someone drinking the night before, then still being intoxicated when they wake up the next morning for work or other responsibilities. Could it be the driver involved here was illegally over-served by a local bar? If so, then the driver may not be the only who needs to answer for what happened here.
