Woman Killed in Forklift Accident at Beach Haven in Daytona Beach, FL

Daytona Beach, FL -- February 13, 2023, a woman was killed after an accident where a forklift ran her over at Beach Haven Inn.

Daytona Beach Shores officials said the incident happened in a parking lot outside of Beach Haven Inn along South Atlantic Avenue. An unidentified woman in her 60s was on foot at the time while a worker on a forklift was moving cargo during repair work. While traveling, the forklift driver apparently did not see the woman, running her over and ultimately causing fatal injuries.

Beyond this, authorities have confirmed no further information. It's not clear who the forklift operator was working for at the time, but it would no doubt be prudent to find out and to look into what procedures were put in place, if any, to avoid this sort of awful event.

I'd be curious to hear from locals if there have been issues surrounding the crew working on the hurricane repairs mentioned in the news. Has the same work crew been on site repeatedly recently? Was the forklift operator left on their own without any co-workers to help them navigate? Has this sort of incident happened before?

To be rather blunt, every respectable company I've had the pleasure of working with that operated machinery in the vicinity of regular folks going about their day took great care to avoid impeding those individuals, let alone avoid hurting them. So what exactly was different about this such that this woman's loved ones are left picking up the pieces and looking for answers?
