Bicyclist Injured in Hit-and-run Accident on Quintana Road in San Antonio, TX

San Antonio, TX -- January 30, 2023, a bicyclist was injured following an accident where vehicles racing on Quintana hit him, then fled.

Officials said the crash happened in the 1600 block of Quintana. The victim was on a bicycle riding along the roadway with equipped flashing lights. Police say that two vehicles were racing when they passed a VIA bus that was behind the cyclist. One of the vehicles then changed lanes, hitting the cyclist. Both drivers then left the scene.

The bicyclist had reportedly serious injuries due to the crash. Reports describe the suspect vehicles as a gray Volkswagen Passat and a silver SUV. Investigations are ongoing.

Few kinds of accidents are more infuriating than a hit-and-run, but one involving racers only makes me more concerned those drivers are still out there posing a risk to the community. By keeping these details in the public eye as much as possible, the hope is someone will be able to connect the dots and come forward so authorities can see there are appropriate consequences for nearly taking someone's life.
