Dump Truck Driver Injured in Overturn Crash on 84th St in Granite Falls, WA

Granite Falls, WA — February 9, 2022, a dump truck driver was injured in an overturn crash with an SUV on 84th Street Southeast in Snohomish County.

Authorities say the incident happened shortly before 11:00 a.m. along 84th Street SE near 163rd Avenue NE. Preliminary investigation suggests only that a dump truck carrying gravel was traveling in the area when it somehow crashed with an SUV. After the impact the dump truck swerved away and overturned, spilling gravel onto the road.

The truck driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The SUV driver was reportedly not seriously injured.

The investigation continues. No further information is currently available.

Investigators don't seem to know yet exactly what caused this wreck, but considering someone ended up in a hospital it seems important to find out. Whether the explanation turns out to involve some kind of operator error, unstable cargo unbalancing the truck, or even poor truck design causing the victim's injuries to be worse than they realistically should have been, it's always important to learn the whole story. I hope that's exactly what Washington authorities and the company behind that driver plan to do.
