Donald Rose Killed in Truck Accident on I-86 in Almond, NY

Almond, NY — February 8, 2022, 62-year-old Donald Rose died in a collision with a semi-truck on Interstate 86 in Allegany County.

Authorities say the incident happened shortly before 9:45 p.m. on westbound I-86 in the town of Almond. Preliminary investigation suggests Rose was allegedly driving a Ram pickup east in the westbound lanes, against traffic, when he crashed head-on with a Ford tractor-trailer.

Rose was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver was airlifted to a Rochester hospital.

The investigation continues. No further information is currently available.

Unless the news or authorities are missing something, there may not be much to say except to recognize how terrible it must be for everyone involved. It seems like investigators should learn exactly why the victim was allegedly in the oncoming lane, as ensuring any lingering questions have clear answers should be a part of any full investigation. Maybe that would reveal a simple explanation for what happened and maybe it would show there's more to the story, but in either case the people who lost a loved one deserve to know that no stone was left unturned. I hope authorities' efforts will bring them that assurance.
