Joshua Martinez Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on Rogers Rd in San Antonio, TX
San Antonio, TX — September 9, 2022, 25-year-old Joshua Martinez was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Rogers Road in San Antonio.
Authorities say the incident happened around 3:20 p.m. on Rogers at Wiseman Boulevard. Preliminary investigation suggests Martinez was in a Dodge Charger that stopped on southbound Rogers at Wiseman; his car was then reportedly rear-ended by a Dodge Dakota for unknown reasons. After the collision the drivers spoke to one another but the pickup's driver allegedly refused to provide his information and left the scene.
Martinez suffered serious injuries in the crash.

It's always disappointing to find out about another hit-and-run on Texas roads, yet I seem to run into them almost daily. This incident is a few months past, so I hope authorities managed to get some helpful leads on whoever brazenly left the scene this way.
Whatever they find out about that suspect, though, there are other reported details about the crash that give me pause for thought. Most notably, I wonder about its aftermath and the severity of the victim's injuries. As he was reportedly buckled up at the time, how was he hurt so badly? Did the seat belt pretensioner fire properly and tighten it during the impact? Did the buckle stay fastened? Could anything else—something harder to detect for police investigators at the scene—have contributed to the damage?
Maybe there's a simple explanation for how a rear-end crash on a 40mph road ended up dealing "incapacitating" damage to that young man. Between finding out for sure and locating someone to answer for causing those injuries, though, it seems like there's still more investigation to do.
