One Seriously Injured in Car Accident on Griffin Pkwy in Mission, TX
Mission, TX — June 5, 2022, a 37-year-old woman was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Griffin Parkway in Mission.
Authorities say the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on the 2400 block of Griffin Pkwy at Shary Road. Preliminary investigation suggests a Toyota Camry was traveling east on Griffin when the driver started to turn left onto northbound Shary. Investigators allege the driver failed to yield to a westbound Volkswagen Jetta and its front end collided with the Jetta's front-left quarter.
The Jetta's 37-year-old back seat passenger was seriously injured in the crash. The driver and passenger in the front seats reportedly sustained minor injuries and the Toyota driver was unhurt.
No further information is currently available.
Reading preliminary reports about this accident some may feel there's little more to it than a crash caused by a simple failure to yield. Investigating more carefully and finding out why the driver didn't yield is still an important step, but generally folks may feel the bases are pretty much covered.
Maybe it's just the decades in this field talking, but I'm not quite so convinced a few vague sentences really tell the whole story. As I said there's still the matter of clarifying why the Toyota driver didn't wait her turn, but what really sticks out to me is how the other car's rear passenger ended up hurt worse than anyone else. If reports are correct the impact was on the car's front-left side and she was on the back-right; moreover, she was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred. How and why did she receive incapacitating damage if no one else did?
To be clear, I'm relieved no one else was hurt worse; I wish everyone was so fortunate after a wreck. I just wonder whether there's more to the accident and the damage that followed than police really accounted for as they worked out their rough timeline of events. I would think that at the very least the people involved in the wreck deserve the whole story, so I hope before all was said and done someone made sure they got it.
