Orrin Watson, 1 Injured in Car Accident on FM 917 in Johnson County, TX

Johnson County, TX -- May 3, 2022, Orrin Watson and another person were injured due to an accident where their vehicles collided on FM 917.

Public information from authorities shows that the crash happened just after 8:00 a.m. along FM 917 near Renfro Street.

Officials said that 35-year-old Orrin Watson was in a Nissan Versa traveling eastbound on FM 917. While unconfirmed, authorities say fatigue possibly led to the Nissan hitting the back of a Ford F-150.

Due to the crash, both Watson and the driver of the Ford were said to have incapacitating injuries. It's unclear if a passenger in the pickup had injuries, as well. No further information can be confirmed at this time.

To be rather blunt, I've seen statements from authorities more confident than this saying fatigue caused a crash only for further investigations to show the investigating officer was just making assumptions. Don't get me wrong—I don't see a reason to believe that would happen here, and there are obviously plenty of situations where initial statements from police are 100% on the mark. But my concern is how often I see people look at preliminary information like this and take it at face value.

Simply put, these details don't likely tell the whole story, so all potential conclusions should be taken with a grain of salt until all the facts are clear. My hope is that authorities were able to get more information to the victims and families even if they never made that information public.
