Silvano Bent and Triston John Killed in Car Accident in Arlington, TX

Arlington, TX — February 4, 2023, Silvano Bent and Triston John perished in a car accident around 6:25 p.m. on South Center St. in Arlington.

Crash investigators report that Silvano Bent was a passenger in a Ford Mustang, driven by Triston John, traveling northbound on S. Center St. The Mustang allegedly traveled over the road's painted median into the southbound lanes, and collided with a Chevy Silverado and a Mitsubishi Lancer that were traveling south.

The occupants in the Chevy Silverado and Mitsubishi Lancer are reportedly uninjured.

Both of the Mustang's occupants are reportedly under 21 years of age, suffered serious injuries, and were transported to a hospital.

Silvano Bent was pronounced dead at the hospital the same day as the crash, and Triston John reportedly succumbed to injuries a few days later.

The crash is still under investigation, and there are no further details at this time.

Commentary on Silvano Bent and Triston John Car Accident

One crucial piece of information that investigators seem to be missing is why the Mustang crossed over a median and into oncoming traffic.

Officials report they "haven't ruled out speed as a factor," but it's also unclear what has been ruled out. A proper and thorough investigation will look beyond "driver error" or "driver innattention". Ideally, authorities would make sure that the victims' families get the whole story, but unfortunately, that can't always happen without a private investigation conducted by crash inspectors.

Expert crash inspectors are better equipped to scientifically evaluate whether or not vehicle failures, defects, poor weather or road conditions, and medical emergencies caused a crash. I truly hope someone can thoroughly examine this crash and find what could have been behind the loss of these young men's lives. Real answers need to be given to the people that most deserve them.
