Leonardo Belone Killed in Truck Accident in Winkler County, TX

UPDATE (February 27, 2023): In recent information from authorities, it appears another person in the same vehicle as Leonardo Belone sustained fatal injuries. Details identified the victim only as a 31-year-old man from Sanders, Arizona. This seems like a pretty big detail that news outlets didn't touch on. Did authorities never mention there was another victim before? Were they being reserved, or did details get lost in the shuffle? Especially now considering there are possibly two families in mourning now, my hope steps are still being taken to get them the answers they deserve.

Winkler County, TX -- February 4, 2023, Leonardo Belone was killed due to an accident between his vehicle and a truck.

Preliminary details from authorities indicate that the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 302 and FM 874, just outside Kermit.

It appears that 53-year-old Leonardo Belone was in a Jeep Cherokee traveling along southbound FM 874. At TX-302, the Jeep went onto westbound highway lanes where a semi-truck crashed into it.

Due to the collision, Belone sustained fatal injuries. It's unclear if anyone else was hurt. Factors surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

Are there any witnesses or local residents that can help shed light on what may have happened here? I learned a long time ago to take early details from authorities with a grain of salt. They sometimes leave out crucial details, such as medical conditions, road hazards, issues with an intersection that locals have expressed concerns about, etc. That's why getting input from the community affected by such a serious crash is always a vital step toward ensuring nothing important goes overlooked. Considering a man lost his life here, the details I'm seeing don't at all make this incident an exception.
