Man Injured in 18-wheeler Accident at County Road 1110 in Midland, TX
Midland, TX -- January 26, 2023, a man was injured as the result of an accident where his pickup and an 18-wheeler crashed along I-20.
Authorities said they were called to the intersection of the I-20 service road and NCR 1110 at around 7:40 p.m.
A 46-year-old man was said to be in a Ford F-150 traveling westbound on the service. Authorities believe the pickup crossed left of center and crashed with an eastbound 18-wheeler. They say the truck came to a stop on eastbound lanes, and the 18-wheeler veered off the left side of the road.

The driver of the pickup had incapacitating injuries due to the crash while the truck driver appeared to be uninjured. Right now, additional details are unavailable.
It seems like authorities have a good grasp on what happened here, and I certainly hope that's true. I would hope that regardless of the circumstances, but it may surprise people how complex these crossover wrecks can be.
I handled one not long ago where police actually got their investigations wrong. Their initial belief in that situation was that a car crossed into oncoming lanes and hit an 18-wheeler head-on. The driver of that car tragically lost their life. When their family asked us for a second opinion, further investigations revealed the truth.
What really happened was the truck initially drifted left of center, and the victim swerved left trying to avoid it. The 18-wheeler returned to its lane, though, and they collided head-on. The officer handling things simply was inexperienced and jumped to conclusions. Had there not been more thorough investigations, who knows if that family ever would have learned the truth?
Again, I don't see anything particular that makes me believe the authorities here did anything less than a stellar job getting the facts. It's possible there's more to this story, of course, but that's why it's a good thing independent investigations are a tool available to victims and families in search of answers.
