Dominique Nicole Jones Injured in Truck Accident in Woodway, TX
Woodway, TX -- January 24, 2023, Dominique Nicole Jones was injured due to an accident where Jones's vehicle was hit by an 18-wheeler.
Details from the authorities suggest the crash happened at around 8:11 p.m. along US Highway 84 near Woodway Drive.
Investigators say that 31-year-old Dominique Nicole Jones was in a Chrysler 300 traveling eastbound along Highway 84. As traffic slowed, it appears that an 18-wheeler was following too closely at an unsafe speed, according to authorities, and crashed into the back of Jones's vehicle.

Due to this, Jones had injuries said to be incapacitating. No other injuries were reported. Police said it was rainy at the time and there was standing water, but they did not confirm anything further.
Generally speaking, when something like this happens, it's usually because the truck driver messed up. Whether it's distraction, just going too fast, having bald tires or worn brakes, or some other negligent behavior, it's not often a truck rear-ends slowed traffic for an acceptable reason. But it would surprise people to see what all a trucking company may blame when they're trying to save face after a crash.
The standing water, for example can be a target. Not even that long ago, I had to deal with that when a company claimed their truck driver lost control, crossed the center line, and caused a fatal accident because of the rain. It was obviously a ridiculous defense, but I've seen worse defense succeed when left unchallenged. That's why we were able to confirm through ECM and GPS data as well as maintenance records to confirm the truck was going too fast and that it even had tires which needed to be replaced.
I would hope anyone involved in this crash wouldn't try something so underhanded, but I don't currently see anything that makes me think this crash would prove any less challenging than normal, so hopefully investigators took it seriously and ensured the victim and their family had the tools they need to let the facts tell their side of the story.
