Blanca Huerta Injured in Alleged Hit-and-Run on Tidwell Rd in Houston, TX

Houston, TX — January 15, 2023, 55-year-old Blanca Huerta was seriously injured by a hit-and-run vehicle on Tidwell Road in Harris County.

According to authorities the incident happened around 7:40 p.m. on the 900 block of Tidwell near Irvington Boulevard. Preliminary investigation suggests Huerta was a passenger in a Ford F-250 pickup traveling east on the roadway. As the pickup passed through the 900 block it was reportedly rear-ended by another vehicle, believed to be a black sedan of unknown make or model. The impact sent the pickup off the road; it crashed through a residential fence and crashed into a church before coming to rest.

Huerta suffered serious injuries in the wreck. The Ford driver was unhurt.

No further information is currently available.

There isn't a clear description of the vehicle at this time, but people would be surprised how much can be done with a time of day and a location. The more people see that a black sedan was involved in a crash on Tidwell that evening, the more likely it is that someone might recall seeing a similar car with some damage nearby the same night.

Runaway drivers usually get caught because a vigilant member of the community takes what reports can tell them and connects the dots. Houston sees far too many hit-and-runs, and I have to believe as a whole its communities are tired of seeing stories like this. I hope someone will contact authorities soon and help them bring this sad story to a close.
