Juan Puente Killed, One Arrested in Fatal Car Accident on Spur 408 in Dallas, TX

UPDATE (February 15, 2023): Additional details from authorities identified the man killed in the accident as 45-year-old Juan Antonio Puente. No further information can be confirmed right now.

Dallas, TX -- January 27, 2023, one person was killed and another was arrested following an accident where two vehicles crashed on Spur 408.

Investigations say that the crash happened at around 6:00 p.m. in the area of Spur 408 and Kiest Boulevard. Officials said that a sedan was along the side of southbound lanes when a pickup somehow went onto the shoulder and hit it. As a result, one person in the sedan, unidentified at this time, sustained fatal injuries.

Police arrested the pickup driver, but it's unclear why at this time. I'm sure there will be all kinds of speculation, from drunk driving to drugs to warrants to something unrelated that happened at the crash scene. As focused as authorities may be on that matter, I hope they are equally focused on getting answers for the victim's loved ones. Putting someone in jail may be a step toward closure, but it may only be just one of many.
