Mechanic Injured in Possible DWI Accident off Hackberry Street in San Antonio, TX

San Antonio, TX -- January 25, 2023. a mechanic was injured due to an accident off Hackberry which may have involved an intoxicated driver.

Initial details about the crash said that it happened off the corner of South Hackberry and West Drexel at around 3:00 p.m. According to reports, a BMW traveling along Hackberry may have run a red light before crashing into another vehicle in the intersection. The BMW then ran off-road where it crashed outside an auto shop, hitting multiple vehicles as well as a mechanic.

The mechanic was said to have non-incapacitating injuries due to the crash. The driver of the BMW may have been intoxicated, authorities said. This has not been confirmed.

If alcohol is confirmed as a factor here, that could make this situation a lot more complex than putting a negligent driver in front of a judge. It could also involve local businesses if they illegally over-served the driver and contributed to the crash. It would surprise people (or perhaps not) how many restaurants will push drinks onto the lunch crowd, resulting in people being being intoxicated in the middle of the day. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but it's good to remind people that these situations are rarely as black-and-white as they may seem.
