Security Guard Killed by School Bus near Istanbul Event Center in Houston, TX

Houston, TX — January 25, 2023, a security guard was struck and killed by a school bus outside the Istanbul Event Center in southwest Houston.

Authorities say the incident happened along West Bellfort Avenue in the parking lot of the event center and Raindrop Turkish House. Preliminary investigation suggests the victim was on foot in the lot when a school bus dropping students off at the center backed into him. The man was fatally injured in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information is currently available.

It's always sad to learn of another life lost in a Texas traffic accident. Investigators are still trying to figure out exactly how this terrible incident occurred, so until they're able to say with more certainty what happened (and why) it's important not to jump to any conclusions. Some reasons might involve an avoidable mistake, but others might have been entirely beyond anyone's control.

Whatever is learned, the victim's fatal injuries are more than enough reason to learn the whole truth for his loved ones. They deserve no less, so I hope that's what authorities provide them in the end.
