One can only wonder why there wasn't more attention on this crash prior to someone losing their life. Even if she had survived, this seems like it was a very serious crash. To be clear, I'm not trying to pry into something that the public doesn't ultimately have a right to know. But my concern is a lack of information in the news about a serious crash can be a sign that investigators themselves aren't really sure what happened.

Whether it's a lack of time, personnel, proper equipment, training, or simply the sheer chaos of a serious crash scene, details can slip through the cracks. One of the reasons why lawyers and authorities alike often consult independent accident reconstructionists is precisely to catch the information that a standard police investigation is likely to overlook. It's not clear whether or not those efforts were made here or even if they'll ultimately be necessary. But I have no doubt there's a family out there that deserves to know they're getting the whole story, and I can only hope they find the answers they're getting right now to be satisfactory.
