Amanda Lorena Jacquez, Maria Plunkett Injured in Car Accident in El Paso County, TX

El Paso County, TX -- June 4, 2022, Amanda Jacquez and Maria Plunkett were injured in an accident where the pickups they were in collided.

Details from authorities said that the incident happened at around 10:14 a.m. along Montana Avenue at Flager.

The details suggest that 53-year-old Maria Plunkett was driving a Dodge Ram 1500 eastbound on Montana. 60-year-old Amanda Jacquez was a passenger in a Ford F-150 that was also going eastbound ahead of Plunkett's vehicle. Somehow, the Dodge crashed into the back of the Ford.

Something I address a lot on this blog is the fact that a serious car accident is almost never simple. It's not all just about speed and cell phone records, as important as those are. There are all kinds of questions experienced investigators look into that the generally public may have never considered. What is the condition of the road? Did either vehicle have maintenance issues or defects? Is this a notoriously dangerous stretch of road? Did anyone have a medical condition which contributed to the crash? Did airbags and seatbelts work properly? Did seat assemblies stay securely in place?

I don't see any particular information that suggests to me authorities asked those questions here, so hopefully they worked behind the scenes to ensure the victims and families got the answers they needed.
