Joshua Grabow Killed, Sabrina Veracruz Injured in Motorcycle Crash on I-10 in Harris County, TX
Harris County, TX — January 22, 2023, Joshua Grabow died and Sabrina Veracruz was injured in a motorcycle accident on the East Freeway in Harris County.
Authorities say the incident happened around 7:20 p.m. on the East Freeway (I-10) near Spur 330. Preliminary investigation suggests only that Grabow and Veracruz were riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the highway when the bike may have gone out of control for unknown reasons. It left the travel lane and hit a guardrail on the road's south side, ejecting both riders.
Grabow was fatally injured in the crash; Veracruz was airlifted from the scene to an area hospital where she was last reported in stable condition. Both were wearing helmets.

One thing I often stress on this blog and when people call the firm is not to take preliminary reports as the final word of a crash. Typically all "breaking" news can say is whatever rough sketch of events authorities figure out at the scene, but in almost every case there's a lot more to learn through careful investigation.
I find this problem comes up most often after motorcycle accidents. Whatever their reasoning, many people unfairly regard all motorcyclists as reckless daredevils. However, long experience with helping injured riders and their families have taught me that's an unfair mischaracterization.
I'm not saying it's impossible an operator error was behind the East Freeway crash, nor am I suggesting motorcyclist can't make mistakes like anyone else. I only mean that nobody seems to have all the facts yet and only those should tell the story. The people who lost a loved one and the woman who ended up in a hospital that day deserve to know exactly how and why that happened. I just hope authorities will take the time and care needed to bring them some real answers.
