Over the years I've run into plenty of people who feel that preliminary reports contain more or less everything there is to say about an accident, but that's far from true. They may provide a rough timeline of what happened, but almost inevitably there's more to the story that will need more investigation to learn.
For instance, there's a lot of reasons a vehicle could crash as the pickup apparently did in Rusk County. Some factors might be within a driver's control, but many others—tire blowouts, vehicle malfunctions, poor road conditions, even other vehicles running the victim off the road—certainly wouldn't be. That's why it's important not to jump to any conclusions before careful investigation discovers all the facts. The victim deserves the benefit of the doubt and the whole story of how he ended up in the hospital, so I hope authorities plan to give him both.
