Man Killed, 1 Injured in Commercial Truck Accident on TX-349 in Martin County, TX
Martin County, TX -- December 29, 2022, a man was killed and another was injured following an accident between a car and a semi-truck.
Initial public details from the authorities said that the accident happened at around 11:14 p.m. along Highway 349 in the area of mile marker 306. A 38-year-old man was said to be in a Mitsubishi Lancer traveling southbound on the highway. Ahead, an 18-wheeler slowed to make a right turn, police say, after which the Mitsubishi rear-ended the trailer.

The driver of the Mitsubishi sustained fatal injuries. The truck driver was said to have non-incapacitating injuries. No further information was given.
I can't help wondering if anyone out there can shed light on what happened here. The media clearly didn't care much about this man losing his life, seeing as no one has said anything about the crash beyond what's available here. But something that stands out to me is the truck driver was apparently hurt in the crash. That's pretty unusual with a collision like this—the distance of the trailer and size of the vehicle usually protects the driver. It makes me wonder if something out of the ordinary happened police aren't telling the public. More importantly, my concern is something happened that authorities aren't telling the victim's loved ones. Is there more to this crash?
