Sarah Reagor Killed in Auto Accident on US-83 in Kerr County, TX

Kerr County, TX — December 25, 2022, 27-year-old Sarah Reagor died in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 83 in Kerr County.

Authorities say the incident happened around 4:35 p.m. on US-83 near mile marker 510. Preliminary investigation suggests a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup was southbound on the highway as Reagor's Ford Explorer was headed north nearby on the other side.

Investigators allege the Dodge driver may have been distracted by his phone when he crossed over the center line into the northbound lane, where he then collided head-on with the Explorer. After the impact both vehicles spun away and came to rest.

Sarah Reagor was fatally injured in the crash. The other driver was transported to an area hospital where blood was reportedly drawn for toxicology testing.

No further information is currently available.

I have no specific reason to doubt or argue with what police say happened in Kerr County, but the years have also taught me that preliminary reports don't always have the full story. To be sure they get it, investigators must still look into many possible factors: Was anything mechanically wrong or defective in the crossover vehicle? How fast was it traveling? Do the suspect's phone usage and data records match what he said happened? If blood tests show alcohol was a factor, where did it come from? Could anything else not caught by the preliminary investigation have influenced what happened?

To be clear, I don't know more than anyone else about this accident. Could it have gone exactly as police first described? Maybe. Is it possible there's more to it than that, though? Absolutely. The most important thing is to investigate carefully and get the whole story for the people who need and deserve it. Hopefully authorities brought them some satisfactory answers.
