Martin County, TX -- January 16, 2023, a baby was killed and two people were injured in an accident where their vehicle crashed on TX-349.
Preliminary details given by authorities said that the incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. along Highway 349, just north of Midland. Right now, exact details are unavailable. It appears a Nissan Altima ran off the side of the road and crashed into a pole.

Due to the collision, a 1-year-old in the vehicle succumbed to fatal injuries. Two others in the vehicle had unspecified injuries. The child was said to be from Hobbs, New Mexico. Further information about the victims is unclear at this time.
It's not unusual for the cause of a crash to be unclear immediately after the accident, but it's important to ensure steps are being taken as soon as possible to look into all possibilities. This sort of thing can involve all kinds of complex issues, such as mechanical defects, road hazards, tire blowouts, medical emergencies, and even other drivers who left the scene. Folks may be tempted to assume the driver did something wrong simply because reports don't mention any other vehicles involved. While certainly a possibility worth considering, I encourage folks to learn why this way of thinking can be so harmful, especially to those affected by the crash who are no doubt searching for answers.
