Jessica Castillo Injured in Auto Accident on Franz Rd in Katy, TX
Katy, TX — December 30, 2022, 42-year-old Jessica Castillo was injured in a crash with a suspected drunk driver on Franz Road in Harris County.
Authorities say the incident happened around 9:00 p.m. on the 5300 block of Franz at Myrna Lane. Preliminary investigation suggests a Ford Ranger pickup was northbound on Myrna when the driver allegedly ran a stop sign at Franz. The pickup continued north and crashed with an eastbound Dodge Grand Caravan. After the impact the Ford allegedly fled the scene but was found a short time later.
Caravan passenger Castillo and a 47-year-old man in the Ford were reportedly injured in the crash. The vehicles' drivers were unhurt. Investigators collected blood samples from the Ford driver for testing.

People may see police say one driver ran a stop sign and fled the crash scene and think there's not much else to say about fault. However, as always it's important to learn all the details and figure out the wreck's greater context. Why did he run the sign? Why did he try to flee? Was he just feeling particularly reckless, or could something else have been a factor? Was there something in the truck he didn't want authorities to discover? Does he have warrants, or an expired license? If investigators drew blood, do they think the hit-and-run driver was intoxicated?
As I said, it's always best to investigate carefully and make sure all the dots are connected after any wreck. Sometimes the picture they make is simple, other times complex (alcohol's involvement could have further implications, for example), but the people affected by it deserve the whole story. I hope authorities' efforts were enough to find it for them.
