San Antonio, TX — January 14, 2023, a woman and child were seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver on Loop 1604 East in San Antonio.

Authorities say the incident happened around 10:25 p.m. on Loop 1604 East at Nacogdoches Road. Preliminary investigation suggests a Chevy Camaro was headed east on Nacogdoches when the driver allegedly ran a light at the Loop and crashed into the victims' Chrysler vehicle. After the crash the Camaro driver and passenger fled the scene on foot.

The Chrysler driver and a juvenile passenger were taken to an area hospital, where they were reportedly in stable condition.

No further information is currently available.

It's always frustrating to learn of another Texas hit-and-run, yet there never seems to be a shortage of them on the news. If there's a silver lining at all to what happened, it's that the striking driver seems to have left their car behind. That may mean there's a decent paper trail for authorities to follow; even if it doesn't lead back to the suspect, there's a good chance the car's owner knows who the last person at the wheel was.

Once authorities track the driver down, it's important to find out exactly why they ran. Sometimes it's just a matter of panic, but in many cases they actually had something else to hide—drugs, warrants, drunk driving, or any number of other things they feared would land them in hotter water. Hopefully once they're apprehended authorities can get some straight answers; the people hurt in the crash deserve no less.
