Jace Davis, Dustin Maanum Injured in Truck Accident in Richland County, ND

Dwight, ND — January 12, 2023, truck drivers Jace Davis and Dustin Maanum were injured when their big rigs crashed in Richland County.

Authorities say the incident happened around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 81 and County Road 10. Police are still working out what happened but preliminary investigation suggests Davis was eastbound on CR 10 when he tried to stop at the CR 81 intersection. His truck allegedly slid into the crossroads and hit Maanum's northbound 18-wheeler. After the impact both trucks ran off the road into a ditch.

Davis, 31, and Maanum, 44, were transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

The investigation continues. No further information is currently available.

Investigators seem to think one of the trucks involved in this crash "slid" when the driver tried to brake, but so far haven't really clarified what they meant by it. Was the road hazardous somehow? Did the big rig's brakes fail? If so, why? Did its tires have good traction? How fast was it traveling?

Police may just not know the answers to those questions yet, and hopefully time and further investigation will clarify things. For the injured men's sakes, I hope authorities and maybe even the companies behind those trucks are working hard to get some real answers.
