Jesus Castillo-Flores Injured in Auto Accident on Business 83 in McAllen, TX

McAllen, TX — December 19, 2022, 26-year-old Jesus Castillo-Flores was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Business Highway 83 in Hidalgo County.

Authorities say the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. on Business 83 near South Taylor Road. Preliminary investigation suggests Castillo-Flores was driving a Ford Mustang west on the highway as a Ram 1500 pickup was headed east on the other side. Investigators believe Castillo-Flores lost control and veered through the center turn lane into the westbound roadway, where his car spun and was T-boned by the pickup. The force of the impact caused the Mustang to split in two.

Castillo-Flores was seriously injured in the collision. The Ram driver reportedly sustained minor injuries.

I tell people all the time how important it is to keep an open mind after just about any wreck, no matter what kind of picture preliminary reports make. In many cases the story they tell may seem pretty straightforward, but I've lost count of the times where another look found crucial information that went unnoticed the first time around.

That doesn't mean I know more than authorities or that I'm arguing with their findings in McAllen, just that it's in everyone's best interests to ensure the whole story and all its details, both obvious and subtle, are learned. At the end of the day the most important thing is to get real answers for the people who need and deserve them, so I hope investigators took the time and care needed to make that happen.
