Abundio Ortiz Resendiz Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Arlington, TX

Arlington, TX -- January 9, 2023, Abundio Ortiz Resendiz was killed due to an accident where a vehicle struck him in the roadway.

Investigators released information saying the incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. along West Pioneer Way near Matlock and Cooper. Details suggest that 67-year-old Abundio Ortiz Resendiz was walking at the time when an Infiniti G35 struck him. Due to the collision, Ortiz Resendiz succumbed to fatal injuries. Police did not report any charges following the incident.

Folks don't often realize just how complex pedestrian incidents can be. They think it all comes down to right of way, but that's not always the most important factor. It is obviously relevant, but so are things like visibility, vehicle speeds, potential distraction, lighting, and even the design of the roadway or intersection.
