Two Injured in Car Accident on RM 620 at Cornerwood in Austin, TX
Austin, TX -- July 6, 2022, two people were injured as the result of an accident where two vehicles crashed along RM 620.
Authorities said that the incident happened at around 6:14 p.m. along RM 620 at the intersection of Cornerwood. It appears that 24-year-old Jose Angel Gonzalez was behind the wheel of a BMW traveling westbound along RM 620. At Cornerwood, police say an eastbound Nissan Altima failed to yield on a left turn, crashing with Gonzalez's vehicle.
While Gonzalez appeared to be unharmed, a 16-year-old in his vehicle had incapacitating injuries. Details say the Nissan driver also had serious injuries. While additional details are unavailable, folks may be inclined to call all of this open-and-shut. Let me give an example as to why even seemingly "straight-forward" wrecks deserve cautious and thorough attention.
A colleague and I were discussing an incident involving a woman texting and driving before she hit a truck. As obvious as that seemed, further investigations showed her injuries were unusually severe given the relatively minor collision. As it turned out, her injuries were the result of a defective airbag rather than the crash itself.
Could it be something unusual happened here? Maybe, maybe not. The point is that it's prudent to make sure investigators at least know to look for these things. Otherwise, something important could slip through the cracks.
