Adela Estrada Injured in Crash with 18-Wheeler on US-183 in Dewitt County, TX
Dewitt County, TX — December 29, 2022, 60-year-old Adela Estrada was seriously injured in a crash with a tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 183 in Dewitt County.
Authorities say the incident happened around 3:55 p.m. on US-183 at State Highway 111. Preliminary investigation suggests Estrada was driving a Dodge Journey north on US-183 when she approached the TX-111 crossing. A westbound Freightliner tractor-trailer on Highway 111 allegedly failed to yield to Estrada as it crossed through US-183 and the Dodge crashed into the left side of the semi-trailer.
Estrada suffered serious injuries in the crash. The truck driver was unhurt.

If reports have their facts straight it seems like a commercial truck driver failed to yield and pulled straight into the path of an oncoming SUV. Of course these are just preliminary findings and investigators must figure out how and why that happened (Did the driver just get impatient? Could he somehow not see the victim's vehicle? Was the truck in good repair?), but barring something very unusual fault may seem pretty clear.
However, as always it's important to investigate the matter carefully and thoroughly and to ensure that all the facts are known. Not only do those involved deserve to know the whole story supported by evidence, but that same evidence is also crucial for ensuring that a trucking company makes amends for the harm its employee (allegedly) did. Without clear proof of exactly what happened many people have found themselves at a major disadvantage when a company dug in its heels. Click below to learn more.
