Two Injured in HPD Car Accident on Highway 59 in Humble, TX
Humble, TX -- January 8, 2023, two people were injured as the result of an accident on Highway 59 involving an HPD cruiser.
Preliminary information says the crash occurred along the Highway 59 feeder road near FM 1960 late Sunday evening. The crash occurred while an HPD officer was working on an unrelated pursuit. While traveling, a passenger vehicle crashed with the HPD cruiser, injuring both drivers. Police said they investigated the car's driver for intoxication, but they did not confirm their determination.

Late at night in Harris County, that possibility of alcohol may come up simply due to how common it is. I've seen plenty of reports like these where police say a driver "may have" been intoxicated only to confirm they were perfectly sober. With that said, folks should always consider alcohol given the seriousness of the consequences that can follow, such as potential criminal charges, penalties for a bar if they illegally over-served someone, TABC investigations into liquor law violations, etc. While I certainly see no specific reason for concern right now, I know how important it is for folks that crashes like this get immediate and thorough attention.
