Both the rider and a woman from the car succumbed to fatal injuries. Right now, specifics remain unavailable as investigations continue. Folks may want to jump to all kinds of conclusions, but it shouldn't take someone with my experience to know that would be irresponsible. Likely or not, there are all kinds of factors that can go into a series of events like this.

Visibility, mechanical issues, alcohol or drugs, road conditions, speeds, medical problems, distraction, other vehicles that left the scene--if authorities aren't taking the time to consider all possible factors, can we be certain the victims' loved ones are going to get the answers they deserve?
