El Paso, TX -- January 8, 2023, Angel Barraza-Karnes was killed due to an accident where cars collided along the interstate.
Investigators said that the incident happened at around 3:00 a.m. in the area of I-10 and Geronimo. It appears that 23-year-old Angel Barraza-Karnes was in a Ford Mustang going westbound on I-10. The Mustang somehow lost control, causing it to crash into a trailer and then off-road.

Barraza-Karnes sustained fatal injuries due to the crash while one person was taken to the hospital. At this time, police said they're looking for a black Dodge Charger which may have been involved in the incident. Preliminary statements point to the suspicion of racing leading to the crash, but I always encourage folks to take early reports with a grain of salt. This crash isn't likely an exception to that.
For example, there are times where people will see sports cars like Mustangs and Challengers, and they'll just assume the drivers were being reckless due to the preconceptions surrounding those vehicles. It's a possibility worth exploring, but so is a tire blowout. So are mechanical issues. So are defects. For all we know, the Charger police are looking for caused this whole thing, and the victim is getting blamed for something they had no control over.
I'm certainly not here to throw around any conclusions without having evidence. That's why I take to this blog to remind folks they would be wise to exercise similar restraint.
