Marlene Hernandez Villalobos Injured in Car Accident in El Paso, TX
El Paso, TX -- July 20. 2022, Marlene Hernandez Villalobos was injured due to an accident where two vehicles collided.
Investigations made public indicated that the crash happened at around 6:30 a.m. along Montwood Drive at Escarpa Drive. Details suggest that 29-year-old Marlene Hernandez Villalobos was in a Ford Fiesta traveling southbound. While crossing onto Montwood, the vehicle somehow went over the median and collided with an eastbound vehicle. The vehicles apparently collided with the Ford's front-right corner and the other vehicle's front-left corner. Villalobos's injuries were described as incapacitating following the crash. No other injuries were reported. There are no additional details available at this time.

Since I use this blog to shed light on unusual factors people don't typically consider, it wouldn't do much good speculating about what caused the crash. It's obvious that warrants an investigation. But something stood out to me which I'm curious to know if anyone else caught.
Based on where the details suggest the vehicles impacted each other, it would appear the driver farthest from the point of impact is the one apparently with serious injuries. Why is that? Was it just dumb luck? A lack of seatbelt usage? Or could this perhaps be a unique event involving defective safety features?
Looking into defects with seatbelts, airbags, brakes, frame construction and design, and other vital features isn't usually within the scope of a typical police investigation. That's why I can't help wondering if something may have slipped through the cracks here.
