Rocky Martin Killed in Truck Accident on I-35 in San Antonio, TX

San Antonio, TX — December 28, 2022, 49-year-old Rocky Martin died in a collision with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 35 in San Antonio.

Authorities say the incident happened around 5:05 p.m. on I-35 North near Eisenhauer Road. Preliminary investigation suggests a Peterbilt semi-truck was towing a trailer north on the highway when the driver alleged he started to pass Martin's Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The driver told police Martin appeared to be cut off by a Ford pickup in the next lane and he swerved sharply to avoid it; the motorcycle then crashed into the front passenger side of the semi-truck. An interviewed witness allegedly gave a similar account.

Martin was ejected from his bike in the collision and suffered fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported.

No further information is currently available.

Reading over the noted details, I feel like most would agree that the man who lost his life wasn't responsible for what happened. He tried to steer clear of someone entering his lane, but by evading a rock he ran into a hard place. It's a terrible shame, but some may also feel there's little else to know.

Even with a seemingly-clear chain of events, though, it's important to investigate carefully and be sure of all the facts. For instance, the pickup driver seemingly told police he only veered left to avoid another vehicle cutting him off. Could this crash have been the result of a chain of hasty evasions? Maybe, but the interviewed witness didn't mention any vehicles cutting off the Ford. Furthermore, the motorcycle rider is sadly unable to provide his own version of events so someone must account for his perspective. Will police efforts alone be enough to put all those elements together to find the whole story? Only time might tell, but the victim's loved ones deserve no less.
