Diego Chavez Killed in Motorcycle Accident in El Paso, TX

El Paso, TX -- January 4, 2023, Diego Chavez was killed as the result of an accident where a motorcycle crashed off the interstate.

Investigations from El Paso County Sheriff officials said that the incident happened at around 4:40 a.m. in the area of Gateway Boulevard East and Nuevo Hueco Tanks Road. Preliminary details identify 28-year-old Diego Chavez as the operator of a motorcycle which somehow crashed along the highway. Right now, the cause of the crash remains unclear.

My hope is that people respect the fact reports are vague at this time and avoid jumping to conclusions. It's way too common for folks to read about a motorcycle wreck and immediately assume the victim was being reckless. Things like speeding are obviously possible, but I've helped out tons of motorcyclists and families of riders over the years. They can be just as safe as any average motorist--often even more safe due to the risk larger vehicles pose to them.

Are authorities looking into this being equally charitable and getting the family the answers they deserve?
