El Paso, TX -- January 4, 2023, one person was injured after an accident where a vehicle crashed along Joe Battle.

El Paso, TX Car Accident Injures 1 at Joe Battle & Gateway Boulevard

Initial details given in the news say the incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. at the Loop 375 and I-10 interchange. It appears the location was along the service road from southbound Joe Battle onto westbound Gateway Boulevard West. Somehow, a car ended up crashing, sending one person to a hospital with injuries said to be life-threatening. Additional details about the accident have yet to be confirmed.

This early in the morning, people may be quick to assume the driver was just drunk. Is that possible? Sure--in fact, it's common. That's why I wouldn't suggest overlooking that possibility and whether or not they were over-served by a local bar, as is often the case in these situations. At the same time, there are many other potential reasons a crash like this may happen. The goal should be to ensure investigators are taking the time to consider them all so nothing important slips through the cracks.
