One Injured in Car Accident on Avenue Q in Lubbock, TX

Lubbock, TX -- January 1, 2023, one person was injured as the result of an accident where a vehicle crashed along Avenue Q.

Right now, details are limited. They said the incident happened at around 1:15 a.m. along Avenue Q near the intersection of 26th Street. A collision occurred, authorities said, which resulted in one person sustaining serious injuries. It's unclear how many vehicles were involved, and the cause has yet to be confirmed.

Folks may be quick to assume this was likely a drunk driving wreck. At 1:15 a.m. on the biggest drinking holiday of the years--in a college town, no less--that's incredibly likely. I certainly wouldn't waste time ensuring there are investigations into that possibility and whether or not a local business took advantage of the busy holiday to illegally over-serve someone.

At the same time, one can't jump to conclusions without letting the evidence speak for itself. Alcohol is a strong possibility, but it's still just one of many until the facts are clear.
