El Paso, TX -- December 16, 2022, one person was killed due to an accident where a vehicle struck them along Doniphan Drive.

A press release from the El Paso Police Department says the incident happened in the 5600 block of Doniphan Drive--just off West Redd Road--at around 11:00 p.m.

Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Doniphan Drive in El Paso, TX

Initial details said that an unidentified man, believed to be 40-60 years old, was walking across Doniphan at the time. While doing so, a vehicle making a right turn off Redd onto Doniphan struck the man. As a result, the pedestrian succumbed to fatal injuries.

No further information about the accident is available at this time, but the story seems far from complete. Was the victim in a crosswalk? Were they in a well-lit area? Was the driver turning through a red light or green light? Why weren't they able to see the victim? Are authorities still looking into this, or did the chaos of the holidays lead to this awful event slipping through the cracks?

One way or another, there is likely a family out there in need of answers. It doesn't take a law degree to say that kind of thing deserves attention.
