Teen Killed, 2 Injured in Truck Accident on Treibein Road in Beavercreek Township, OH

Beavercreek Township, OH -- December 16, 2022, a teenager was killed and two others were hurt following a truck accident.

Few details can be confirmed right now, but initial information says the incident happened at Treibein Road and Dayton-Xenia Road at around 11:50 a.m. The victims were said to be in a Volkswagen Beetle on eastbound Dayton-Xenia, and a southbound semi-truck on Treibein struck the Volkswagen. The juvenile driving the vehicle died due to the crash, and two other juveniles had injuries and were taken to area hospitals. I think it's important regardless of what these initial reports say that folks avoid jumping to conclusions.

Frankly, when a teenager gets into a wreck, a lot of people just outright blame them. It's obviously common for teens to make mistakes behind the wheel, but think about the families this sort of thing affects. They're already going through unimaginable pain, and people commenting on incomplete news stories blaming their kid isn't doing anyone any good. That's especially true when more thorough accident reconstructionists could very well prove the victims did nothing wrong and there's more to the story.

Put simply, I always talk about the important of being prudent and waiting for more thorough investigations. Not only is this incident unlikely to be an exception, it's more likely the perfect example of why jumping to conclusions is simply unacceptable.
