Injuries Reported in 18-wheeler Accident on I-20 outside Lindale, TX

Smith County, TX -- December 19, 2022, injuries were reported following a multi-vehicle truck accident outside of Lindale along I-20.

Right now, details are limited. Officials said there was traffic due to a previous 18-wheeler crash along eastbound lanes of I-20. In that traffic, sources say that an 18-wheeler failed to stop on the wet roads, hitting multiple other vehicles, including other semi-trucks. Injuries were reported, but they were not said to be serious. It's unclear if anyone was taken to a hospital.

Some folks may take all of this as good news, and it is certainly good to see nothing about anyone being critically injured or worse. However, I always talk about how I take commercial truck wrecks seriously, and I see no reason why this crash would be an exception.

For example, just because officials don't describe injuries as "serious" doesn't mean they aren't serious for those who were injured. A broken arm isn't always "serious," but it's pretty darn serious to, say, a construction worker who needs that arm to provide for their family. That's why I always take these situations seriously and focus on what can be done for those involved. That's also why I'd encourage others to be equally cautious and thoughtful. At the very least, thorough independent investigations could help to show how all of this could have been avoided. Is anyone looking into that right now?
