18-Wheeler Overturns on Car, 1 Injured on Blackstock Rd in Spartanburg, SC
Spartanburg, SC — December 21, 2022, one person was injured after a tractor-trailer overturned onto a sports car at a Spartanburg intersection.
Authorities say the incident happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of East Blackstock Road and Reidville Road. Preliminary investigation suggests the 18-wheeler driver attempted to turn in the crossroads but the truck overturned, landing on a nearby stopped Ford Mustang and pinning it beneath.
The Ford driver was rescued by responders and was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was reportedly unhurt and received a citation.
The investigation continues. No further information is currently available.

If news reports have their facts straight it sounds like the truck driver may have tried to turn at unsafe speeds. Barring something unusual that sounds like a simple screw-up on their part, and if so then it seems logical they and their employer would be responsible for the damage to the Mustang and its driver. I'm relieved her injuries were allegedly not dire, but that doesn't excuse the people who caused them from setting things right.
Of course, things are rarely that cut-and-dried after an accident--particularly one with a commercial truck. Even in a situation where fault seems clear it's best for someone to look into the matter carefully and find out the whole story as told only by facts. Police may or may not go to that effort, and the trucking company would only send out investigators to clear its name, so I often suggest reaching out to private investigators who will work specifically on the victims' behalf to get answers and evidence.
