Commentary on Truck Accident on East Loop 289 in Lubbock
Investigators say the commercial driver failed to yield while turning. I have no particular reason to doubt them; crashes happen every day for that precise reason and some of those at-fault drivers are in big rigs. However, just because police alleged the Lubbock truck driver screwed up that way doesn't mean he or his employer have to agree.
People who've never crashed with a big rig may not realize the battles that await folks who do. They're not just a matter of the trucker owning up to a mistake (which can already be difficult), but rather ensuring that his employer is also held accountable for the damage done. However, they have a lot to lose and will fight hard to avoid that. That can take different forms, but their ultimate goal is to minimize or even eliminate their liability whatever preliminary reports might say about who's at fault. Click below to learn more.
