Man Killed, Marisol Espinoza, 1 Injured in Truck Accident in Kaufman County, TX
Kaufman County, TX -- November 19, 2022, a man was killed and Marisol Espinoza and another were injured due to a truck accident.
Investigators were called out to the area of Helms Trail and I-20 at around 2:34 p.m. It appears that 26-year-old Marisol Espinoza was in a Mercedes-Benz traveling westbound along the interstate. Espinoza's vehicle was said to be stopped behind a Honda HR-V due to traffic. From behind, police say that a truck hauling a trailer slammed into Espinoza's vehicle and the Honda, pushing them into an 18-wheeler.
As a result of the collision, a 20-year-old man in the Honda sustained fatal injuries. The driver, a 21-year-old Shreveport woman, had incapacitating injuries. Espinoza was also said to have incapacitating injuries. Right now, exact factors leading to the crash are still unconfirmed.

Generally speaking, a truck crashing into a line of vehicles that apparently had no issues slowing down is almost always a sign the driver was being reckless. While unusual circumstances like a medical condition or mechanical defects are worth considering, it's more likely they were on their phone, speeding, or following too closely. But even those situations can be complex if victims and families don't have experienced, thorough professionals looking into the details.
I'll give an example from a situation I handled not long ago. In that case, authorities found a driver was texting and driving, leading to a serious crash.
